D. Dinis House

The transparency that dissolves the boundary between house and garden.

The Casa D. Dinis project consisted of the rehabilitation and extension of a multifamily building located in Campo de Ourique, in central Lisbon, which was converted into a single-family residence. The intervention included not only the existing building, previously occupied by several residential and commercial units, but also the garden that forms part of the property, currently organized across different exterior levels.

The proposal involved a thorough rehabilitation of the building’s interior while preserving its main volumetric structure, alongside the introduction of a new rear facade with a high degree of transparency, allowing the garden to become an integral part of the house.

In Campo de Ourique, several units become one home — where a glass rear facade dissolves the boundary between interior and garden.
