The Largo do Leão Building project is located on a corner plot, occupying a strategic urban position with a strong presence on Largo do Leão and a direct visual relationship with Avenida Almirante Reis. The intervention incorporates an existing Pombaline building of 18th-century origin, classified as a Municipal Property of Interest, whose historical significance defines the architectural approach.
The proposal combines the rehabilitation of the existing building with the construction of new residential volumes, seeking a balanced relationship between heritage preservation and the consolidation of the surrounding urban fabric. The historic building is preserved and emphasized through its most relevant architectural features, while the new construction adopts a contemporary language that frames and completes the urban block. The overall program comprises 36 residential units, organized around a generous landscaped courtyard, promoting housing quality, urban continuity and a clear dialogue between heritage and contemporaneity.
