Honorable Mention at the 2026 SIL Real Estate Awards, in the Urban Renewal – Housing category.
Nominated for “Project of the Year 2026” by ArchDaily, in the Housing category.
Building of rehabilitation, alteration and extension of two pre-existing residential and commercial buildings located at Largo do Terreiro do Trigo, in Alfama, within Lisbon’s historic center. Although the intervention concerns two distinct buildings, the proposal was developed with the aim of unifying them into a single architectural ensemble with a shared entrance, while preserving the individual identity of each façade.
Given the building’s three facades, the main and sole entrance is located on Rua da Judiaria, a pedestrian-only street aligned with the Arco do Rosário, the Fonte do Poeta and the Fernandina Wall — elements of significant cultural and architectural value.
From this new access point, the vertical organization of the building was redefined, allowing for a new interior configuration adapted to contemporary requirements. This transformation establishes a dialogue with the preserved heritage elements — such as azulejos, painted surfaces, stonework and balconies — respecting the pre-Pombaline origin of the ensemble through an architectural reinterpretation.
